Excuse for Speeding

A man was speeding down the highway and got pulled over by a
police officer. The police got out of his car and walked over to
the man's car. The police told the man that he was having a bad
day, so just give him a good excuse and he'd let him go. The man
thought for second, and replied, "About a year ago, my wife then
ran off with a police officer. I thought you were trying to
return her to me!"
